What to Do When Your Marketing Feels Scattered
Marketing a small health or wellness practice can feel like…a lot. Some days you’re on top of it. Other days, you’re doing a little bit of everything between patients—and it feels like none of it is really working.
If your marketing feels inconsistent, disconnected, or overwhelming, you’re not alone. It’s a common spot for solo practitioners and small teams to land in.
You don’t need a full overhaul to move forward. A few small shifts can help you reconnect with what’s already working and clarify where to focus next.
Here’s how to regroup when things feel scattered.
Start with What’s Working
Before you make any big changes, pause and ask: what’s already working well?
Maybe you’ve been getting steady referrals, even without posting on social media. Maybe new patients mention that your website feels calming or easy to use. Maybe a recent email or reminder led to more bookings than usual.
Instead of assuming you need to “do more,” start by identifying what’s been helpful and build from there. You might be more consistent than you think.
Simplify Your Focus
If everything feels important, nothing gets your full attention.
So take a step back and ask:
What’s my main goal for the next few months?
Where do new patients usually come from right now?
What do I want someone to know or feel after they find me online?
Once you’re clear on those answers, it becomes easier to decide what can wait.
If your website and referrals are doing most of the work, it might be okay to pause Instagram for a bit. If your Google Business Profile is out of date, that might be your next small task.
You don’t have to do everything. Just the right things for this season of your practice.
Look for Small Wins
A full rebrand or new strategy isn’t always realistic—or necessary. But small, intentional updates can go a long way:
Add a new testimonial to your site.
Update your contact form or intake process.
Clarify a confusing headline or section of copy.
Remove services or events you no longer offer.
Write one clear blog post that answers a common patient question.
Update your Google Business Profile hours, services, or photos.
Each of these can improve your marketing without a big time or energy investment—and they add up over time.
Think in Seasons, Not Sprints
If winter has felt heavy, chaotic, or slow, that doesn’t mean you’ve failed. It might just be a sign that it’s time to reset.
Instead of trying to overhaul your entire strategy, treat this as a time to regroup:
Revisit your goals for the year
Review what’s already working (even if it feels small).
Choose 1–2 things to focus on through the next few months
Marketing doesn’t have to be all-or-nothing. A few calm, consistent efforts usually go further than trying to do everything at once.
You Don’t Have to Figure It All Out Alone
